PM Imran to virtually address UNGA session today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will virtually address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session today.

Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, in his weekly press briefing said the premier will share Pakistan's perspective on various regional and international issues.

In his address, the premier will raise the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

Furthermore, the prime minister will share Pakistan's succesful handling of the coronavirus, his debt relief initiative for developing countries, as well as Islamophobia.

Addressing two high-level events held on the sideline of UNGA, the prime minister, a day earlier, called for strengthening international cooperation to bring perpetrators of financial crime to justice.

He proposed a nine-point action plan to counter illicit flows of money from developing countries, revealing that over $7 trillion flowed out of developing countries illegally each year.

Imran said that the 26 richest persons in the world owned as much wealth as half the world’s population did, while around one billion people – almost 15% of the world’s population – survive in poverty, lacking the income and capabilities to live with dignity.
