Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday expressed concern over India using Afghan soil to destabilise Pakistan and said the current government in New Delhi is ideologically against Pakistan.
Addressing the Pakistan-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Forum in Islamabad, the prime minister reiterated that peace in Afghanistan was important for the promotion of trade and economic activities in the region which would bring prosperity.
He added that India was also ideologically against its Muslim population and that of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“The treatment of Muslims in India is unprecedented,” the premier said. “We tried to extend a hand of friendship towards India but failed. We will try it again.”
Imran further said the Afghan peace process has been gaining importance, but unfortunately for the last 40, years there has been anarchy in the country.
“Pakistan suffered the most from this anarchy,” the PM stressed. “This anarchy created misunderstandings in both countries. We still have not learnt from the past. The people of Afghanistan will have to make their own decisions and foreign influence should not be imposed to form the Afghan people’s opinion.”
He added that Pakistan had decided to strengthen relations with Afghanistan, no matter who was in power.
The current government was giving priority to uplift the business community and take the country towards industrialization for wealth creation, he added.
“We are making efforts to enhance connections with the business community of Afghanistan in order to benefit from each other's experiences and give impetus to the trade and economic relations,” the prime minister said.
Speaker of Afghan Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani said on the occasion that Afghanistan values the contributions of Pakistan to the Afghan peace process.
“The relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan is deep-rooted,” he said stressing on the common culture, faith and values.
