The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday revealed that wheat worth Rs250 million had been missing in the government warehouses of Sindh.
According to the anti-corruption watchdog, the NAB came to know about the embezzlement of the commodity in the government purchase centres and warehouses.
The Sukkur NAB DG took notice of the matter and ordered an inquiry.
The NAB teams carried out raids in the government wheat purchase centres and warehouses in Kandhkot and Kashmore and found that 15,000 maunds of the commodity had been missing in the warehouses of both the places.
“Six thousand bags of wheat were embezzled from the warehouses the cost of which is Rs250 million,” the NAB said.
The NAB DG ordered the arrest of those involved in the malpractice and prepared lists of officials working in the food department of Kashmore and Kandhkot for the purpose.
